Abstract

Globalisaation seurauksena monet yritykset hyödyntävät hajautettuja toimitusketjuja vastatakseen kansainväliseen kysyntään ja kilpailuun markkinoilla. Yhä useammat yritykset ovat laajentaneet toimintaansa useisiin eri maihin ja maanosiin. Tämän seurauksena hajautettujen toimitusketjujen hallinnasta on tullut yhä oleellisempi osa kansainvälisten yrityksien liiketoimintaa. Varastonhallinnan merkitys on kasvanut entisestään, vaikka sisäistä tuotantoa on ulkoistettu. Tämän kandidaatintyön tarkoituksena on perehtyä hajautettujen toimitusketjujen hallintaan varastoinnin kannalta käyttäen esimerkkitapauksena kivenmurskaus- ja kaivosalan yritystä, Metso Oyj:tä. Työssä pyritään esittämään nykytilan lisäksi tulevaisuuden trendejä ja haasteita. Työssä osoitetaan, että toimitusketjujen regionalismi on ollut kasvava trendi epävakaassa kansainvälisessä markkinatilanteessa. Vaikka toimitusketjut muuttuvat ja päivittyvät tulevaisuudessa, niiden ylläpitäminen ja varastojen rooli kokonaisprosessissa eivät tule kuitenkaan vähenemään.

As a result of globalization, companies are utilizing decentralized supply chains to meet international demand and market competition. More and more companies are expanding their operations to multiple countries and several continents. As a result, the management of decentralized supply chains has become an increasingly essential part of the business of an international company. As the internal production has been outsourced, the importance of inventory management has increased even more. The purpose of this Bachelor’s Thesis is to study the management of decentralized supply chains from the point of view of warehousing, using the crushing and mining company Metso Oyj as a case study. The second purpose is to study the current situation and its challenges as well as future trends. The thesis shows that a growing trend has been regionalism of supply chains in the unstable international market situation. Although supply chains will change and they will be updated in the future, their maintenance and the role of warehouses in the overall process will not decrease.
