Abstract
This paper examines the influence of axial slits on eddy current losses in axially laminated rotors of high-speed electric machines. A comprehensive analysis is conducted to identify the optimal slit dimensions—depth and width—as well as the optimal number of slits. The study emphasises the 3D modelling of these effects and compares the results with the segmentation of permanent magnets. A simplified rotor model is proposed to speed up the analysis of rotor eddy current losses. Particular attention is also paid to mechanical stresses in this structure under centrifugal forces. The findings provide deeper insights into the accurate modelling and optimised design of high-speed electric machines, enhancing their performance and efficiency.Description
