Textila tolkningar av arkitekturen

Abstract

In this work jewellery, textile, form and space get combined.

This Master's Thesis studies the principles of Architecture and the concept of architectural space, and interprets these by working with textile and creating a collection of textile jewelry.

Research about the architectural form, space, composition, proportions & scale as well as human presence in the space have been the starting point in a design process and in creating visual products in the form of expressive but soft textile jewelry.

The texts, both written and read have been the research target and the inspiration for the jewellery. Thoughts have been awakened by the text and theories, and these thoughts have been transformed into three-dimensional objects. These objects and shapes are both the sketches and part of the final answer to the research question. The process between the read text and the creative process has had a strict order. First the texts have been read and after that the hand and the mind has had the opportunity to process the read texts and to create a collection of jewelry.

The basis of this thesis has been to work with facts and to conduct research that is accurate and clear. The collection of textile jewellery is characterized by a spontaneous interpretation of the theme, and these characteristics have then been analyzed with the original theories obtained in the research.

The answer to the research question, what kinds of forms are created by architectural principles and the idea of space is the combination between the research and the jewellery.

I denna magisteravhandling möts formen, rummet, smycket och det textila materialet.

Detta är en avhandling uppbyggd av textila smycken vars formspråk präglas av arkitekturens grundbegrepp och uppfattningen om rummet. Utgångspunkten i arbetet har varit att med hjälp av arkitekturens grunder d.v.s. rummets, formens och ordningens begrepp skapa en kollektion textila smycken som tolkar dessa begrepp ur en arkitektonisk synvinkel.

Litteratur om arkitekturens grunder och principer och människans och smyckets betydelse för skapandet av rum, står som grund till dessa smycken. Den lästa texten har fungerat dels som grund för forskning och dels som inspirationskälla. Genom de lästa texterna har tankar uppstått och dessa tankar har sedan överförts till händerna som arbetat fram de konkreta smyckena. Det har varit en process mellan teori, tolkning, uppfattning och överförandet av resultatet till en visuell, kreativ process. Tankarna har präglats av de lästa texterna om arkitekturen och en uppfattning om vilka redskap som skapar en arkitektonisk byggnad. Smyckena har fått sin karaktär genom en tolkning av temat och dessa karaktärer har sedan analyserats utgående från den information litteraturen gett.

Grunden till hela arbetet har varit att arbeta med en teori och faktabaserad forskning som varit konkret och exakt. Denna forskning har sedan omvandlas till ett intuitivt och visuellt arbete som i sin helhet bygger på forskningen. Svaret på forskningsfrågan, hurdana smycken skapas med arkitekturens grundprinciper och uppfattningen om rummet som utgångspunkter, är en mångsidig kombinationen av resultatet från undersökningen och det visuella slutresultatet.
