Abstract

Cellular technologies have developed much in the past 20 years. However, it is very obvious that the developments of cellular technology and products are uneven all around the world. In Europe, for instance, the development track is clear and has received much international recognition. It would be useful to analyse the lifecycles in other parts of the world. Being the most popular technologies worldwide, 2G and 3G are the focus. Depending on different advantages and shortcomings, they are developed differently in different places. This thesis research will evaluate the lifecycle by doing Political, Economic, Social, and Technical analysis, so that we can find out objective factors which might influence the lifecycles. However, it is hard to find out all the reasons through PEST. Some technologies and products have a longer or shorter lifecycle because of region specific characteristics, which can be either geographical, cultural or other things. This work aims to give a clear view of the influential factors using PEST analysis. Additionally, based on the Africa and China regional situation, deeper reasons for the results should also be identified. Finally, we will identify the future possible solutions for cellular technology and product development in China and the trend in Africa.
