Abstract
Practising Photographic Art Online examines the challenges and opportunities encountered when engaging in online practises whilst producing photograhic art. The key research question 'What kinds of elements need to be taken into consideration when producing photographic art in different online environments?' will be answered by first examining the impact that choosing a context has on the way we determine what constitutes as photographic art. Following from this, the thesis looks at how the process of producing photographic work online challenges or complements the current practices in displaying photographic arts from the artists’ point of view. By engaging in the process of online production and publication the role of the photographer-artist becomes entwined with roles traditionally occupied by the institutions that displayed photographic art.Description
