Abstract

In this thesis, I explore Robotic Process Automation governance through a qualitative case study. The chosen research method provides an extensive overview of opportunities and challenges in a federated governance model for RPA. In addition, several practices to mitigate noticed challenges in the chosen governance approach are provided. Hence, this study provides novel insights into RPA governance. In this study, case company’s federated governance model for RPA is described based on material available on the intranet and information gathered through expert interviews. This study evaluates implications of the selected federated governance model on software robots’ deployment and maintenance based on the held eight expert interviews. As a result, the study provides managerial implications of RPA governance for the case company that can be utilized in the development of RPA governance and other technology approaches that include similar characteristics.
