Abstract

The inspirational elements of the thesis are floral essences and environmentally resonant adornments that inspire a collection, and illuminate a story. For my thesis, I will investigate the micro-encapsulation of floral essential oils as a technique to create clothing and textiles that contain intrinsic healing components of nature. I will address the manners that floral essential oils micro-encapsulated into body adornments and textiles that inspire the design of a seven-day collection. My aspiration is to explore floral essential oils that provide aromatherapeutic implications when interlaced into adornments designed to enhance everyday wellness. I will explore the methodology in the micro-encapsulation of floral essential oils that is implement- ed to create a collection of natural products for mindfulness. Essential oils have a myriad of remedial implications and connect individuals to intrinsically therapeutic elements in nature. Floral essential oils interlaced in attire and textiles inspire a visionary collection design. Environmentally sensitive items inspire individuals to connect with nature in mindfully designed products that provide equanimity and welfare. This thesis aims to design attire interlaced with aromatic properties that are beneficial for an individual's skin and sense of well-being. This thesis addresses the audience of ethical design enterprises and product initiators in the field of environmentally aligned fashion materials and natural wellness. The technology of micro-encapsulation is applicable to a myriad of disciplines and kindles interest in a range of enterprises. My thesis intends to initiate collaborations in the realms of chemical engineering, fashion, and textiles, and inspire research advancements. My collection vision is to design clothing and textiles for ballet-inspired womenswear as a principal focus. My thesis involves a collaboration with the Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems to develop the technical chemistry of micro-encapsulation, which inspires the design research framework and illuminates the technique applicable to adornments interlaced with floral essential oils in a collection. The final collection presents a set of accessories and attire for the market sector of products for well-being.
