Abstract
Second-hand fashion has grown to be a trendy topic in the Western world during the past two decades. Several factors have resulted the prominent situation including e.g. the rise in awareness of environmental issues. In developing countries, the position of second-hand fashion consumption is remarkably different, but it plays an important role in for example supporting livelihoods through providing the necessity of clothing. The purpose of this study is to conclude and analyse the current state of research that has been conducted on second-hand fashion consumption and draw attention to subjects that perhaps need to be researched more. Considering the Western world and developing countries, this study aims to provide an overview as extensive as possible on both perspectives and aid to understand the differences in the second-hand fashion industry between the two contexts. This study was conducted as a literature review by searching articles, journals and studies overviewing the viewpoints of different researchers and contrasting and analysing their findings to formulate a big picture of the current situation.Description
