Abstract
Modern web-development techniques heavily rely on JavaScript, around 93.8 percent of websites utilize it. However, this mainstream approach, when overused, has its drawbacks. Hence, Tony Ennis created the HTML-first manifesto, a set of guidelines to help utilize HTML native solutions and enhance developer experience. As the topic was introduced recently, there exists the need to explore its potential. By conducting a literature review, this thesis explores the idea of HTML-first development. This thesis consists of HTML native features that may be utilized to replace some JavaScript features, such as the client side form validation, implementing accordion menus and using semantic elements. Additionally, the study describes framework aiming to enhance HTML development. At the end the challenges and limitations of the presented solution are described, including the dynamic functionalities, security and adaptation in the industry.
