Abstract

In recent years, the concept of work-life balance has gained prominence as individuals seek to manage their stress levels, enhance their mental wellbeing, and tackle challenges such as long working hours and the impact of technology on their personal lives. This thesis aims to explore the intricate dynamics of work-life balance and well-being, examining their significance, associated stressors, and strategies for achieving equilibrium. Specifically centred on a global technology company, the study investigates how employees, managers, and the organization collectively contribute to fostering work-life balance and cultivating a healthy work environment. The objective is to pinpoint and examine best practices applicable at both individual and organizational levels, aiming to promote worklife balance and establish an optimal work environment within the global technology company context. To facilitate a comprehensive understanding of the subject, this research employs a multifaceted strategy that integrates a thorough literature review with quantitative empirical investigation. The empirical phase of the study encompasses a survey conducted among a sample of 243 individuals affiliated with Company X, a globally renowned technology and automation corporation. The survey covers essential aspects such as work-life balance, stress factors, technology's impact on work, remote work experiences, and well-being initiatives. The survey reveals nuanced work-life balance dynamics, showing variations in satisfaction based on roles and remote work frequency. Common stressors, including unclear expectations, are identified, emphasizing the need for tailored interventions. While many engage in well-being initiatives, there's room for improvement in Company X's support. Employee perspectives highlight the importance of recognition, breaks, and open communication for wellbeing, guiding both employees and organizations toward a healthier work environment. Collectively, the insights derived from the literature and empirical research play a pivotal role in offering a fresh perspective on worklife balance and wellbeing, particularly within the dynamic landscape of the technology sector.
