Abstract
Objectives The main objectives of this study were to investigate the possibilities of creating sustainable change within businesses from the perspective of companies that have already succeeded in becoming sustainable. Understand to what extent the bottom-up change method is useful for taking steps to becoming more sustainable and reducing their impact on the environment. Summary Qualitative research was conducted through semi-structured interviews with employees from European sustainable companies to investigate whether a bottom-up approach would be successful in empowering employees to create sustainable change. Conclusions Managers in business can empower their employees to affect CSR issues to make their business practices more sustainable. Already sustainable businesses can help to advance sustainability on a larger scale through isomorphism. There already exists many different possibilities within companies to create sustainable change. A bottom-up approach to change can be successful in creating more sustainable practices and reducing the impact on the environment.Description
