Abstract

This thesis explores the transition taking place within the steel industry towards a more sustainable future in the form of green steel. A global shift towards greener practices is taking place and the steel industry is attempting to follow suite. The transition in steel production is one that comes with its challenges in a multitude of different forms. The main issues with green steel being its economic viability and the lack of production capacity. Therefor this thesis investigates the impact of policy mechanisms and consumer awareness on the market entry of green steel. The thesis details how various supply and demand side policy mechanisms in combination with end-consumer education and sales force adoption can impact the possible market entry of green steel in the future.
