Abstract
The principles of circular economy are becoming an even more important topic among consumers, managers and researchers, who are increasingly discussing the topic. Various regulations have been set for companies to improve their environmental sustainability, and these are often seen as negative and expensive changes among managers. Through analyzing existing literature on the topic, the objective of this thesis was to identify and discuss the different ways in which a company can adopt the circularity principles into its supply chain, while at the same time increasing streams of revenue. The review considers different factors, for example business model, supply chain structure and company image, and how these affect the profitability of transitioning to a circular supply chain model. The results show opportunities and challenges in implementing circularity into supply chains. Servitization and flexibility in supply chain structure were revealed as important factors in the process of successfully implementing circular supply chains in order to maximize revenue generation. Companies in industries such as fashion and technology have successfully implemented some principles of circularity into their supply chains, while the pharmaceutical industry still faces challenges mainly due to regulatory constraints.Description
