Abstract
This thesis explores the challenges of delays and poor productivity in the construction industry, emphasizing the critical role of construction managers in mitigating these issues. Despite the industry's significant contribution to the global economy, it has struggled with efficiency, with only a minimal increase in productivity over the past decades.
The study focuses on how artificial intelligence (AI) can be utilized by construction managers to prevent delays, specifically in the areas of recruitment and communication. Through a literature review, this thesis identifies common causes of delays and their measuring methods and examines the potential of AI for overcoming these challenges. A framework for AI-driven delay mitigation is created, providing construction managers with strategic step-by-step introduction on implementing AI technologies to enhance project outcomes. The framework includes phases of planning, development, and evaluation, designed to streamline the implementation of AI methods in construction projects.
The findings suggest that while AI offers significant potential to improve efficiency and reduce delays, successful implementation requires careful planning and adaptation to the unique circumstances of each project, as well as overcoming the fear of change within the traditional methods of the industry.
