Abstract
Listening experience describes the subjective feelings of an audience member during music listening. It is related to complex factors, such as the content of the music and the acoustic environment of the music presentation. Thus, the audience's listening experience is an important parameter for evaluating the acoustic performance of a concert hall. In recent years, with the development of psychoacoustic research, the audience's physiological signals as an evaluation aspect have gradually become the focus of research attention. Physiological signals do not only highly correspond to the emotional level of the listening experience, but also provide a new perspective for the research field of psychoacoustics. However, existing physiological signal monitoring systems have some drawbacks, for example, high prices and their complex operation, and are difficult to use in large-scale experiments.
A sensor chair that integrates multimodal non-invasive sensors is designed and tested in this thesis. The aim of the system is to collect and analyze complex physiological signals of the audience in actual environments such as concert halls or cinemas. The sensor chair can measure and store the real-time physiological signals of the audience, and obtain physiological parameters such as heart rate and respiratory rate through post-processing calculations. Compared with traditional systems that rely on adhesive electrodes, this system does not need to affix the electrodes on the surface of the skin, which significantly saves experimental preparation time and does not affect the audience's immersive experience due to long-time measurements. Furthermore, this thesis evaluates the performance of the sensor chair through experiments. The results show that the system can provide excellent physiological signal measurement accuracy and has the feasibility and potential for application in acoustic research.
