Abstract

The objective of this research is to produce a simple tool for minimizing the costs of logistics. This tool will be used in decision making process. The four objectives of the research plan for the tool are:. 1. Optimal market mix for a sawmill group based on logistic solutions. 2. Optimal shifts between market areas. 3. Optimal location of distribution points. 4. Optimal route selection. The structure of the case company and business is clarified. The changing business environment and integration of companies make the management situation more difficult to handle only by traditional management methods. This is the driving force behind decision support systems. The thesis includes a literary part where possible methods for approaching the problem are introduced. One method is selected and implemented. The tool is validated with a real example from the target company.

Työn tavoitteena on rakentaa yksinkertainen työkalu logististen kustannusten minimointiin. Työkalua käytetään paatoksenteon tukena. Tutkimussuunnitelman neljä tavoitetta työkalulle ovat:. 1. Optimaalinen markkina-mix saharyhmälle logistisiin ratkaisuihin perustuen. 2. Optimaaliset markkinasiirrot. 3. Jakelupisteiden optimaalinen sijainti. 4. Optimaalinen reittivalikoima. Kohdeyrityksen rakenne ja liiketoiminnan luonne selitetään niiltä osin kuin se liittyy työkalun rakentamiseen. Muuttuva liiketoimintaympäristö ja yhtiöiden yhdistyminen tekevät liikkeenjohdosta vaikeampaa pelkästään perinteisillä menetelmillä. Tämä motivoi työkalun kehittämistä. Työ sisältää kirjallisuusosan, jossa ongelman mahdolliset lähestymistavat selvitetään. Näistä valitaan yksi ja toteutetaan se. Lopuksi työkalu testataan konkreettisella esimerkillä kohdeyrityksestä.
