Abstract

This paper aims to create a computer model that can simulate diauxic growth, and utilizes the methylotrophic yeast, P. pastoris, as a template to check the validity of the model. The developed model is capable of accurately predicting the diauxic growth pattern by measuring biomass, substrate and product concentrations. In addition, an optimisation program is written to find the best time to switch from glycerol to methanol feeding in a fedbatch reactor. This work advances the understanding of computer models for diauxic bioprocesses.
