The video game market has grown rapidly during last few decades. The overall market revenue reached 195-billion-dollar mark during the year 2022. Alongside the growth of the market the research on best practices of video game design has evolved during 2000’s. To please the appetite of potential customers of the market, it is vital to design the best possible products for them to consume. This thesis conducted a literature review, and a text mining analyses on elements of game design. The thesis addresses a few major elements of game design, different typologies of gamers and the text mining analysis conducted with Leximancer software. This thesis compares the previous research to the findings of the text mining analysis. The findings include confirmation that there are multiple different player types that enjoy different aspects of gameplay experience. Differences rise also from the level of engagement and challenge that the games provide for their respective consumers.
