Abstract

The purpose of this degree project is to create a modern and simple usability interface of Flygresor.se to evaluate the results. It addresses the issues of cluttered and complicated features, which are continuously developed by Flygresor. Especially, it aimed to evaluate whether it enables users to perform the flight search easily and efficiently while being consistent with the behaviors and habits of users in the original application. The literature review was conducted to establish a framework for further special implementations. Especially, it directs the correct construction of the search user interface and Usability testing. After this, a competitor analysis was performed to create insights into the current trends, the strategy of flight search user behaviors, and correct solutions. Usability testing at an initial state was applied additionally to aid in defining problems of specific functions and elements towards targeted and potential customers. It also evaluates the previous breakthrough to assure to highlight and adjust any potential issues before it launches. Finally, the online System Usability Scale was collected after the Usability testing to assess the performance of the designs. It was the last step to verify all improvements led to the desired results. Investigating competitors and communicating with users at the initial stage allowed the researcher to quickly get familiar with the platform of Flygresor.se. The System Usability Scale of first Usability testing scored 62.5, which exposed many crucial errors on the current platform. Then, the first functional wireframe prototype was built and the Usability testing was implemented, this provided many sufficiently comprehensive insights. Next, by consulting experienced interaction designers, the high-fidelity prototype was produced. During this period, the new search user interface design scored of 82.5 of the SUS, which depicts a relatively good usability interface outcome.
