Abstract

Opinnäytteeni kirjallinen osio on produktioraportti opinnäytteeni taiteellisesta osasta, kehitteillä olevan”Catherine” - draamasarjan myyntitrailerin tuotannosta. ”Catherine” on 1500-luvulle sijoittuva, tositapahtumiin perustuva draamasarja, joka kertoo puolalaisen prinsessa Katarina Jagellonican tarinan. Puran raportissa trailerin tuotantoprosessin ennakkosuunnittelusta ensi-iltaan, sekä pohdin prosessin ja sen lopputuloksena syntyneen trailerin merkitystä niin oman ammatillisen kehitykseni kuin itse sarjankin kehittelyn ja myynnin kannalta. Näkökulmani raportissa on tuottaja-käsikirjoittajan, eli analysoin prosessia ja sen lopputuloksia sekä tuotannollisesta että sisällöllisestä näkökulmasta. Catherine- trailerin tuotanto oli haastava, mutta samalla erittäin palkitseva tuotanto. Historiallisen maailman luominen, yli satahenkisen työryhmän johtaminen, sekä trailerimuodon ja sen haasteiden ja mahdollisuuksien hahmottaminen, tekivät projektista itselleni erittäin mielenkiintoisen. Tässä opinnäytteessä käyn lävitse erityisesti produktion näitä osa-alueita, sekä pohdin tämänkaltaisten produktioiden soveltuvuutta ja mielekkyyttä yleisemmin lopputyötuotannoiksi.

This thesis is a project report of the artistic part of my graduation work, the production of a marketing trailer for drama series “Catherine”. “Catherine” is a historical series in development, set in the 16th century, and based on the true life story of Polish princess Catherine Jagellon. In the report I look at the production process of the trailer from the perspective of a producer- screenwriter, describing the phases of work from development to the screenings of the finished trailer. In addition to the end product itself, I also analyze the relevance of the process of making the trailer as a mean to develop the series. Working on the trailer as a graduation work was challenging, but also very rewarding. Creating the historical setting of the series, managing a crew with over 100 members, and simply grasping the form of the trailer-narrative to its fullest, made the project extremely interesting to me. In this thesis I look especially closely to these parts of the process, as well as consider the possible benefits for other students to engage in similar projects.
