Abstract

The research will involve the creation of an experimental analogue film. The artistic aspect of the film will be studied further by merging lens-based filmmaking with the methods of making films with living organisms. The study focuses on non/living as an approach to investigating nonhuman entanglement, ecological filmmaking techniques, and materialist film. My research approach focuses on the intersection of art and science, including process- based experimentation and surface-based or cameraless filmmaking. In particular, research with celluloid film stocks and yeast will provide distinct visual effects and textures, while the production and exploitation of microorganisms will influence the film aesthetic. In addition, my research investigates the vitality of DIY experimentation with recipes and material connection, which are critical elements of artistic practice. This type of filmmaking and experimenting produces innovative approaches to using tools and procedures that push the boundaries of conventional filmmaking, present new chances for combining the fields of art and science, and expand screening and exhibiting approaches.
