Abstract
Over the past century, there has been a shift in the approach to disease detection and prevention in healthcare from a paternalistic to a personalized approach. The advancement of healthcare towards personalized medicine has placed an increasing emphasis on measuring patient-reported outcomes, most commonly, the quality of life (QOL) as a critical indicator of patient well-being. However, the subjective nature of QOL assessment presents challenges in the aggregation and analysis of data.
This thesis explores the use of digital tools to facilitate structured data collection for QOL assessment, including the use of an app called Eva, developed as part of this research. The study also examines the challenges associated with data privacy and security in the context of subjective data collection and proposes design considerations for addressing these issues.
