Abstract

The purpose of this thesis is to create a software development process model for developing packaged software products that enables efficient deployment and maintenance of standard solutions at Enoro Oy. The aim of the developed process is to produce packaged market-specific solutions which can be delivered to several customers.A literary review of the most widely used software process models, software product management, requirements engineering and requirement abstraction levels is presented. The current state of Enoro's standard solutions, the processes used in developing them and the needs for improvement are analyzed by interviewing the key personnel in product delivery, deployment and support organizations. General requirements for the new process were created based on the research goals and observed problems in the development process, which were stated in the interviews. In the thesis, a software development process model is presented that reflects the iterative and incremental development of software development process Scrum. This thesis was made at the same time as an on-going change process in the company's product development organization. This limited the number of viable models because the developed model had to adhere to the more general development process. The created model combines strategic product management and product development by defining the requirement abstraction levels, which can be used to follow the dependencies and development items and cycles. The process also sets time dimensions for different requirement abstraction levels. This guides the planning of new features at the right time.

Diplomityön tavoitteena on luoda Enoro Oy:lle standardoitujen ohjelmistotuotteiden kehittämiseen soveltuva prosessimalli, joka avulla voidaan tehostaa standardiratkaisujen toimittamista ja ylläpitoa. Muodostettavan prosessin tarkoituksena on tuottaa pitkälle standardoituja markkinakohtaisia ratkaisuja, joita voidaan toimittaa usealle asiakkaalle. Työssä tehdään katsaus yleisimmin käytössä oleviin ohjelmistokehityksen prosessimalleihin, ohjelmistotuotteen hallintaan sekä vaatimusten hallinnan menetelmiin ja abstraktiotasoihin. Kohdeyrityksen standardiratkaisujen sekä niiden kehittämisessä käytettävän prosessin nykytilan ja havaittujen ongelmien selvittämiseksi haastateltiin yrityksen avainhenkilöitä ja standardiratkaisujen kehityksessä, toimituksessa ja ylläpidossa mukana olevia henkilöitä. Haastatteluissa havaittujen kehityskohtien sekä tutkimuksen tavoitteiden perusteella asetettiin vaatimukset muodostettavalle prosessille. Työssä luotiin tuotekehityksen rytmiin pohjautuva prosessimalli, joka perustuu Scrumin vaiheistettuun ja syklitettyyn kehitysprosessin käyttöön. Työ tehtiin yleisemmän muutosprosessin rinnalla, mikä asetti rajaehtoja määritettävälle mallille, koska standardiratkaisun kehityksen haluttiin noudattavan yleisemmän ohjelmistokehityksen käytäntöjä. Muodostetussa mallissa yhdistetään strateginen tuotehallinta tuotekehitykseen määrittämällä vaatimusmäärittelyn abstraktiotasot, joiden avulla voidaan seurata kehityskohteiden riippuvuuksia sekä abstraktiotasoja vastaavia suunnittelu- ja kehityssyklejä. Prosessissa asetetaan myös aikajänteet eri abstraktiotasoille, mikä kannustaa oikea-aikaiseen suunnitteluun.
