Abstract

The pandemic has affected industries of all kinds. Especially the semiconductor industry has felt supply chain pressures and companies are facing serious disruptions in the supply of chips. This thesis examines supply chain disruptions and focuses on the global chip market. The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted global supply chains and companies are facing negative effects on their operations. The global chip shortage has affected almost all manufacturing industries. It is necessary for companies to take immediate action against disruptions and increase resilience in their operations to mitigate risks. This thesis examines the global chip shortage’s impact on business operations. In addition, it covers how semiconductor companies are executing strategies and the central factors in how these companies can increase resilience to tackle the chip shortage crisis. The chip shortage has been particularly painful for the automotive industry because modern vehicles cannot be manufactured without semiconductors. The implications of the chip shortage for the automotive industry is analyzed comprehensively.
