Abstract

Kartta, kompassi, karikko ja myötätuuli - sisältö suuntana tuottajuuteen on taiteen maisterin tutkintoni kirjallinen opinnäyte, joka tarkastelee tuottajan työtä - mitä tuottaminen on ja mikä määrittää tuottajaa ammattiaan harjoittaessa? Työni kautta hahmotan omaa sijaintiani kartalla peilaten tähän asti kertynyttä ymmärrystäni tuottajan toimenkuvasta kirjallisiin, aiheesta aikaisemmin kirjoitettuihin lähteisiin. Lopputulemana totean, että tuottaminen on kutsumusammatti, jota ei voi täysin erottaa henkilökohtaisesta persoonasta ja siksi tuottajia on yhtä useita erilaisia, kuin on tehtäviä sisältöjäkin. Tuottaminen on niin projektinjohtamista kuin vaikuttamista kulttuuriympäristöön tehtävien sisältöjen kautta. Tuottaminen on myös intohimoa, ihmissuhdetaitoja ja intuitiota.

Land ahoy! – survival kit for producers is a written master’s thesis on producing – what producing is and what defines producers in their work? With this thesis I aim to understand my whereabouts on the map by reflecting on my own experience in producing so far and referencing to what has been previously written on the topic. As a final conclusion I discover that producing is a calling; it cannot be separated from the personalities and characters behind it. There are as many producers as there are stories to be told. Producing is a mixture of leadership and project management, as well as influencing to cultural environment depending on the given content. Producing is also about passion, interpersonal skills and intuition.
