Abstract
Analog-to-digital(A/D) converters provide the connection between analog and digital signals. The architectures of A/D converters can be commonly defined as single-step and multistep. In this thesis the flash topology of the first class is studied in detail. A development review looks into the basics, theory and applications of ADC technology today. To improve the performance of a flash ADC, the efficient solutions for different design consideration are also studied. An ADC design is presented following the technology review. Each component of a comparator, e.g. preamplifier, dynamic latch, and output stage is designed based on the practical consideration. The interpolation technology is utilized to integrate the designed ADC. Different performance test and simulation results give a conclusion for the ADC design.
