Abstract

This thesis provides an analysis of the Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC) market within the European context, emphasizing a comparative approach to its U.S. counterpart. By compiling an extensive dataset of European SPAC companies, the study scrutinizes the returns of SPAC entities both pre- and post-merger. The empirical findings reveal that European SPAC returns exhibit trends similar to those observed in the U.S. market, highlighting significant negative returns for companies’ post-merger. This analysis underscores the parallel dynamics between the European and U.S. SPAC markets, contributing to the broader understanding of SPAC performance and offering insights into the evolving landscape of European SPAC-markets.
