As on every field of vehicle engineering, reducing emissions and increasing payload is under discussion also on mobile machinery field, and an energy efficient powertrain is needed.
One option for this is a vehicle with a diesel-electric hybrid powertrain.
Low rotational speed but high output torque electric motors are conventionally used in vehicles.
These motors are heavy and their dimensions are big.
If the rotational speed of motor is increased, the output torque decreases but a smaller and lighter motor can be designed.
This thesis discusses the use of high speed motor as a part of a mobile machinery powertrain and transmission.
The high rotational speed can lead to problems, if pitch line velocity exceeds 25 m/s.
Therefore, the reader is introduced with basics of involute toothed gears.
The scope of this study is in failure mechanisms of gears.
High pitch line speed gears have a tendency to pitting and scuffing.
Vibration of gears is also studied because under vibration, the load applied to individual tooth can increase instantly above design limit, even without overloading from propulsion equipment.
This can lead to root bending fatigue of the tooth, and finally to full damage of the tooth and the gear wheel.
In the experimental section of this thesis, I discuss about methods of re-engineering.
The re-engineering is also used to gather information from Toyota Prius Generation III P410 transmission.
The transmission includes two motors and a power split device, which combines torques from motors and internal combustion engine, to a continuous propulsing force.
The driving electric motor of the P410 has the maximum speed of nearly 14 000 rpm, which is high in the field of passenger cars.
Testing is also in scope of my thesis, considering the high speed gears are not used commonly in land vehicle gears.
During product development process, testing has to be used to verify calculations and simulations.
Testing is also an important tool to gather information for the simulations.
On the last section of this thesis, I discuss different gear testing methods.
Työkoneiden päästöjen vähentäminen ja hyötykuorman kasvattaminen vaativat energiatehokkaita voimalinjaratkaisuja, joista eräs on diesel-sähköinen hybridi.
Tavallisesti ajoneuvoissa käytetyt sähkömoottorit ovat hidaskäyntisiä ja korkeavääntöisiä. mutta painavia ja ulkomitoiltaan suuria.
Tämä diplomityö tutkii pienikokoisempien ja kevyempien suurnopeussähkömoottorien käyttöä osana diesel-sähköistä hybridityökonetta ja sen vaihteistoa.
Työssä esitellään evolventtihammaspyörien ominaisuudet ja niiden käyttö suurinopeuksisessa vaihteistossa, jossa hammaspyöräparin ryntönopeus ylittää 25 m/s.
Erityisesti keskitytään niiden vaurioitumismekanismeihin, koska korkea ryntönopeuden vuoksi hammaspyörät ovat alttiita kuoppautumiselle ja tahmautumiselle.
Lisäksi tutkitaan hammaspyörien värähtelyä, koska se voi aiheuttaa hampaaseen normaalia kuormitusta merkittävästi suuremman hetkellisen kuorman, aiheuttaa juurisärön ja lopulta hampaan murtuman.
Työn kokeellisessa osuudessa tutustutaan käänteiseen tuotekehitykseen eli re-engineeringiin.
Kohteena toimii kolmannen sukupolven Toyota Priuksen P410 vaihteisto, koska siinä on käytetty planeettavaihdetta erityisellä tavalla. joka sallii tehonsyöttämisen vetopyörästölle polttomoottorilta ja kahdelta eri sähkömoottorilta portaattomasti.
Lisäksi toinen sähkömoottoreista pyörii lähes 14 000 kierrosta minuutissa, joka aiheuttaa alennusvaihteessa korkean ryntönopeuden.
Suurnopeuksisia vaihteita ei ole käytetty maakulkuneuvoissa laajasti. joten testaus on niiden tuotekehityksessä tärkeä osa-alue.
Työn lopussa on käsitelty erilaisia ajoneuvovaihteiden testausmenetelmiä ja niiden tulosten käyttöä tuotekehityksessä.
