Abstract:
The cost of a loudspeaker varies from few tens of euros to few thousand euros corresponding to its size, performance and the parts used. Over six decades, there is no significant change in loudspeaker working principle. The differences between low cost and high cost loudspeakers is measured in a controlled environment with a focus on the objective measurements alone. Paired comparison method is used to compare the results obtained. The results are further validated through laser doppler vibrometer measurements. The usefulness and the relationship between acoustical measurement and laser doppler vibrometer measurement in loudspeaker evaluation is established. Some low cost loudspeaker is competent enough to its peer high cost loudspeaker.
