Abstract
Lähestymistapa on fenomenologinen. Pyrkimyksenä on tulkita sekä ymmärtää tutkittavaa ilmiötä. Keskeinen lähtökohta on henkilökohtainen kokemus.

The thesis deals with the everyday. The subject of the study is the nature of the everyday to escape conceptual definitions as well as knowledge that is difficult to verbalise emerging in art making. The thesis examines how the everyday occurs and appears in the light of the material being studied. In addition, it addresses the intertwining of everyday life and art. The thesis is located to the field of body and corporeality research through body-related objects – especially jewellery, as well as touching and presence in everyday life. The subject in question is an artistic study that does not involve a separate auditable art production. The subject of the research is approached by methods familiar from art making. Thinking, under-standing, and knowledge arising from the artistic work are crucial. The approach is phenomenological. The aim is to interpret and understand the phenomenon being studied. A key starting point is personal experience. Work points out what already exists, exposes it and brings the subject under joint consideration. The material of the thesis consists of a series of work called 364 days that sets in the context of jewellery art, as well as related work diaries. The material based on experiential knowledge creates a perspective that is conceptualized and contextualized with the help of the source material. The chosen sources serve as a dialogue partner to study the matter emerging from artistic work and the material. The aim of the thesis was to create a deeper understanding of the phenomenon being dealt with and to find divisible meanings. The goal was to make visible – to bring unseen, ordinary and mundane to appear and under view. To awaken one to think about what one is doing and experiencing. The work emphasizes the importance of corporal and personal experience. The thesis challenges one to reflect on the importance of quietness, silence, and time in art making and teaching. In the thesis, the intertwining of everyday life and art and their joint shared nature crystallizes in corporeality and in nonverbal. Craft and comprehension is based on the corporal knowledge created through experience, which emerge best in action.
