dc.description.abstract PowerPoint® is a powerful tool for presentation. A large amount of study materials is in .ppt format. However, PowerPoint® applications have poor performances in mobile devices, because the layout of slides is stationary while the sizes and shapes of mobile devices is diverse. In this thesis, I proposed a solution to optimize the layout of slides automatically according to the size and shape of mobile devices. I have studied hundreds of slides provided by users to explore user habit in slides design, and designed an algorithm to optimize slides automatically based on user habits and size of device. The result shows that the slides created by our algorithm can optimize the layout of slides automatically and achieved 82% user satisfaction in the usability testing among 45 target users. en
