Development of a material calculation tool for underfloor heating in the bidding phase

Abstract

In addition to various underfloor heating products, product suppliers also offer design services to their customers. Therefore, the product supplier must define functional design solutions already in the bidding phase. From the point of view of the product supplier’s operation, it is essential that the material calculation in the bidding phase corresponds as closely as possible to the actual designed material consumption. The purpose of this thesis is to examine how the material consumption of industrial underfloor heating can be defined accurately and time-efficiently.

The design solutions are influenced by the input data of the project, such as the purpose of the building, supply and return water temperatures, indoor air temperature and heat demands. Hence, this thesis is based on heat transfer theory. The heat flows obtained from the floor with different input data and different installation distances of the pipes are simulated with the HEAT2 simulation program. A database will be built from the results of the simulation.

A material calculator based on the database and the basic principles of material calculation is created in the Excel. Thus, the aim of the thesis is to solve how different data are combined into one functional entity.

The developed material calculator automatically calculates the required installation distance of the pipes based on the input data and thus the entire material consumption of the project. The material calculator speeds up the material calculation process in the bidding phase since the different input data variations are already simulated.

Tuotetoimittajat tarjoavat erilaisten lattialämmitystuotteiden lisäksi myös suunnittelupalveluita asiakkailleen. Siksi tuotetoimittajan tulee määritellä toimivat suunnitteluratkaisut jo tarjousvaiheessa. Tuotetoimittajan toiminnan kannalta on oleellista, että tarjousvaiheen materiaalilaskenta vastaisi mahdollisimman tarkasti todellista suunniteltua materiaalimenekkiä. Tämän diplomityön tarkoituksena on tutkia, kuinka teollisuuspuolen lattialämmityksen materiaalimenekin määrittelyn voi tehdä tarkasti ja ajallisesti tehokkaasti.

Suunnitteluratkaisuihin vaikuttavat projektin lähtötiedot, kuten rakennuksen käyttötarkoitus, meno- ja paluuveden lämpötilat, sisäilman lämpötila sekä lämmitystehontarpeet. Näin ollen diplomityö perustuu lämmönsiirtoteoriaan. Lattiasta saatavia lämpövirtaamia simuloidaan erilaisilla lähtötiedoilla ja putkiväleillä HEAT2 simulointiohjelmalla. Simulaation tuloksista rakennetaan tietokanta.

Exceliin luodaan tietokantaan ja materiaalilaskennan perusperiaatteisiin perustuva materiaalilaskin. Siten diplomityön tavoitteena on selvittää, kuinka eri data sovitetaan yhdeksi toimivaksi kokonaisuudeksi.

Kehitetty materiaalilaskin laskee automaattisesti lähtötietojen perusteella tarvittavan putkien asennusvälin ja siten koko projektin materiaalimenekin. Materiaalilaskin nopeuttaa tarjousvaiheen materiaalilaskentaprosessia, sillä eri lähtötietojen variaatioita on simuloitu jo valmiiksi.
