The objective is to derive an automated pipeline for testing of current measurement in variable frequency drives. The tests that are automated are gain error, non-linearity, and crosstalk tests. Accurate current measurement is important for controlling the electric motor.
The test setup includes a variable frequency drive, the contactor controller device, and the power supply. A power supply injects the current into the variable frequency drive output phase, and the current direction is controlled by contactors. Current measurement accuracy can be verified when comparing the values retrieved from the variable frequency drive with the real current values measured from the power supply.
To automate the setup, the communication between the devices and the computer must be synchronized. Python-based Robot Framework software is used to automate the tests. Automation is beneficial for providing faster test results to the developer team.
