Valovinttitalo

Abstract

Valovinttitalo on moderni pientalo, josta erityisen tekee ylimmän kerroksen puolilämmin valoisa vintti. Valovinttitalo on sekä täydennys-rakentamisen että uudiskohteiden tarpeita silmällä pitäen suunniteltu 2020-luvun tyyppitalo. Sen suunnittelua on ohjannut halu luoda suomalaisen pientalorakentamisen kentälle jotain uutta. Jotain, jonka kautta pientaloasumisen kulttuuri voisi kehittyä entistä kestävämpään suuntaan.

Keskeisin osa on diplomityötä on Valovinttitalon suunnitelma. Talon suunnitelmasta on tuotettu työpiirustuskokoelma. Kirjallisen osan tehtävä on perehdyttää lukija suunnittelutyötä edeltäneeseen tutkimusprosessiin sekä työn teemoihin. Työn tärkein teema on ympäristö. Ympäristöteema on rajattu käsiteltäväksi asunto-rakentamisen ja vielä tarkemmin pientalojen viitekehyksessä.

Lopputuloksena syntynyt kokeellinen tyyppitalo haastaa ajattelemaan omakotitalossa asumista uudella tavalla. Perinteitä ravistellaan, mutta kunnioittavasti. Valovinttitaloa on innoittanut jälleenrakennuskauden tyyppitalojen käytännöllinen ja yleispätevä suunnittelu. Yhdistelemällä uutta ja vanhaa Valovinttitalon arkkitehtuuri pyrkii ohjaamaan asukasta hellävaraisesti kohti ympäristöystävällisempiä elämäntapoja.

Suunnitteluprosessin aikana ja sen jälkeen tehtyjen havaintojen perusteella Valovinttitalolla on potentiaalia ekologisena asuntona. Tullakseen sellaiseksi sitä on tutkittava ja kehitettävä edelleen. Suunnitelman jatkojalostus edellyttää arkkitehdin ohella muiden rakennusalan ammattilaisten osaamista. Valovinttitalon todellisia hyötyjä päästään arvioimaan vasta toteutuksen ja aidon asumiskokemuksen kautta.

The light attic house is a modern detached house design with a unique daylight-filled attic on its top floor. The light attic house is a type-planned house of the 2020s, designed to fit the needs of both infill construction and new building. The driving force behind the design process has been an urge to introduce new ways of thinking about and designing detached houses in Finland – something that could help to push our housing culture to be more sustainable.

The essence of this thesis is the design, which has been developed to a level of refinement at which working drawings of the house could be produced. The written part of the thesis connects the reader with the underlying study process and the themes of the work. The leading theme here is the environment. In order to do justice to such an extensive subject, the theme has been narrowed to fit a residential housing framework. Detached houses receive a special focus.

The end result is an experimental dwelling that challenges the way we perceive life in a detached house. The design respects the traditions of the building type but isn’t afraid to take them in a more contemporary direction on occasion. The light attic house draws inspiration from the type-planned houses of the Finnish reconstruction period. Architecture, in which elements of the traditional and the modern are intertwined, gently guides the dweller towards a more sustainable lifestyle.

Observations made during and after the design project suggest that the light attic house does have potential as an ecological dwelling. However, in order to become one, further development is needed. For this route, other building specialists should be consulted. The true benefits of the concept are there to be discovered when it is put to use in real life.
