    Missing Value Imputation in Sensor Networks

    Wide sensor networks are increasingly installed into a variety of environments to measure phenomena and attributes of the physical world. Due to errors in measurement and transmission, such a system will inevitably fail to record some of the sensor readings. In such situations, if the data from the sensor is to be used, the missing values often have to be estimated in some way. In this work we look into a number of methods for achieving this goal. The methods explored include neighborhood estimation approaches as well as a matrix factorization model inspired by recommender systems. After introducing these methods, we compare their results to the attested data as well as each other using different similarity measures in order to understand why the methods behave the way the do. Finally, we look into alternative methods of presenting this data.
