Item Think big(2023) Seppala, George; Aktaş, Bilge; muo; Taiteiden ja suunnittelun korkeakoulu; School of Arts, Design and Architecture; Puintila, SimoThis thesis is an exploration of self-examination and the development of a distinctive creative voice in the realm of art and design. By prioritizing personal creative needs, engaging in uninhibited exploration, and meticulously documenting unfiltered thoughts throughout the studio process, I aim to uncover the underlying motivations, inclinations, and impulses that drive my creative practice. The creative process involves finding inspiration in tangible objects, followed by a studio process in combination with journaling, and a retrospective analysis of the journal entries and final works. This thesis delves into the study of a series of ceramic artworks, techniques like CNC milling and casting, and explores how encounters with everyday objects can serve as sources of inspiration. This thesis involves retrospective analysis of thoughts and concepts derived from my own artistic production, presented as a clear and meaningful explanation of the project’s development. It emphasizes the significance of self-awareness in identifying sources of inspiration, bridging the gap between artwork and effective communication, and preparing a framework for future creative pursuits. I recognize the elements that captivate my attention and shape my creations, enabling me to purposefully channel my creative process and find inspiration in my immediate surroundings. This self-awareness brings to light unexplored creative domains and potential strengths, facilitating personal growth within my creative domain. The thesis serves as a catalyst for both personal and artistic growth, providing a platform for the exploration and definition of my creative identity. Ultimately, it seeks to establish a profound connection between myself, my artwork, and the world, enabling the conveyance of inspiration, concepts, and my personal identity in a meaningful and authentic manner.
