  • The process model of meaning innovation in international entrepreneurship

    This thesis examines the process of meaning innovation in international entrepreneurship through an inductive and longitudinal study in five educational organisations. A new framework that maps out decision-making principles of meaning innovation in the international entrepreneurship process is proposed. The whole process can be divided into three phases. Decision-making principles in each phase are derived from theories of effectuation and design-driven innovation. Organisations use these principles to advance each phase flexibly in the process. Overall, this research presents a holistic perspective for studying meaning innovation in international entrepreneurial practice by combining design-driven innovation theory and effectuation theory. The most important contribution of this paper is to emphasise networks and uncertainty management in design research.
