School of Science | Master's thesis(2010) Kokkonen, AskoDigital design projects of Design Agency Fusion, the subscriber of thesis, have become larger and more complex. Thus the company has a need for a clear process model to be used in different kind of user centered software development projects. The thesis studied how the process model, developed on the base of Contextual Design -process, worked in a single digital service design project of a mid-sized software development organization. Based on a literature review and interviews of all key stakeholders of the project, several ways how to develop process model were collected and analyzed. As a result a powerful and adjustable process model was created which can be used in different kind of software development projects. Also regarding future development targets, ways how to implement the new process model and the resulting impacts using the process in subscriber's organization are considered in this thesis. The process model worked well in the studied project, but also clear weaknesses were found. As a result, the final process model changed considerably from the original one. The new process model provides a clear overall structure for any software development project, from understanding the potential solutions until publishing a new version of software. The new process also gives a starting point for better planning of different kind of software development projects and enhances the control of development of product during its lifecycle.
