    Design systems are becoming vital parts of facilitating the creation of digital products in large companies. Metso Outotec has a design system that has a React specific component library. For a design system to be compatible with any digital product, it must not be bound to one technology, i.e., it must be technology agnostic. This thesis explores the value of a design system, and the options of creating a technology agnostic component library. The results will cover user survey data, key performance indicators, and a practical minimum viable product implementation of such a component library for Metso Outotec, called Modes UI.
